Tract Text
God’s Word never changes, but His world has changed dramatically in recent days. A firestorm is beginning to gather as the whole world watches, and before long it will be too late to come to the Lord. Satan is a viral being who corrupts everything he touches, and today we see an example of his handiwork in the coronavirus (COVID-19). The coronavirus is a severe acute respiratory disease that is highly contagious and life-threatening, and it appears to cover the entire earth. It strikes some people suddenly, and many are too sick to turn to the Lord before they die.
Sadly, for them it is too late! And violence? It is everywhere! People are shot and killed while standing nearby during protests that were supposed to be peaceful. Satan, the archenemy of God, brings division, violence, and disease into God’s world, but God uses these things to draw people to Himself. Believe it or not, God has the ability and power to transform every evil act brought on by Satan into a thing of beauty! And He promises to do just that for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose, because their trust is in Him and their sins are forgiven. Although their lives may become difficult at times, God will turn every trial into a blessing for them in His time. [Romans 8:28]
God is holy, and He is all powerful, all knowing, and everywhere present, and He loves us dearly in spite of the fact that we are sinners. We offend God over and over by violating His laws, and the Bible says that the penalty for sin is death! If we never come to God to make things right with Him, He has no choice but to send us to Hell when we die, because He is holy and cannot tolerate sin in His presence! God says there is only one way to make things right, and that is to believe in His only begotten Son, Jesus. [Romans 6:23; 1 Peter 1:15-16; John 3:16]
Jesus did not come to earth to judge us. He came to pay our sin debt by dying on a cross as our Substitute, and then He was buried and rose again on the third day according to the scriptures. God the Father laid the sins of the entire world on His Son at the cross, and it was very traumatic for Him. He could not bear to even look at Jesus covered in our sin! As God turned His back on Him and the sun refused to shine, Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” And when Jesus died, the earth shuddered! Seeing how strongly God feels about sin, why would anyone expect to be welcomed into heaven without having his or her own sins forgiven? Jesus died to make eternal life available for all of us, but that life can never be ours until we receive Him! [John 3:17; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Luke 23:44-45; Matthew 27:45-51]
When we know we have offended someone, we have the responsibility to make things right with that person, and trying to be good or do nice things for them is absolutely useless! We must address the offense and ask for the person’s forgiveness and help to mend the relationship. [Ephesians 2:8-9]
Thankfully, God is very clear in telling us how to get right with Him. We must receive Jesus as our Substitute, and He will give us the power to become the sons of God as the Holy Spirit breathes His life into our spirit. That is when Spiritual conception occurs, and we are born again! (Incidentally, conception occurs in the physical sense when we, as little egg beings, receive life from our earthly fathers, but that life is only temporal.) That is why Jesus says we must be born again—He brings everlasting life! “He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written to you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life.” [John 1:12; 3:1-7; 1 John 5:12-13a]
There is a beautiful parallel between physical birth and spiritual birth. In fact, when we look more closely, we can see a pattern in the way God brings about life in general. Physical birth and spiritual birth are not unlike the creation of the world in the very beginning. Look at Genesis!
If you have never put your trust in Jesus, God is pleading with you to come to Him today! Being born again is more than simply acknowledging who Jesus is—even the devils believe and tremble! You must receive Him into your life. And the best way to do that is to simply thank Him for dying on the cross as your Substitute, ask Him to forgive you for your sin, and ask Him to be your Savior and Lord. Then His Spirit will breathe life into your spirit, and you are born again! Very soon you will realize that you are a child of God, for there is a type of love and joy and peace in your heart that was not there before—beautiful traits you inherited from your heavenly Father when you were born again! [James 2:19; Romans 8:16-17; Galatians 5:22-23]
